The educational benefits of clay are many: * a creative outlet for all ages * satisfying results for all abilities * an excellent tool to explore the national curriculum * enhances cross-curricular learning by making connections with history, geography and maths as well as exploring art and design principles. Each basic workshop can be adapted for children of any age and tailored to the specific needs of each group. Workshops range from a short introduction to working with clay, to a series of sessions over several weeks. All workshops allow students to create at least one finished, fired piece of ceramic artwork. Workshops are suitable for all ages and levels of ability including students with special needs. Fees: £150 per day (half days also available) Basic Workshop Themes The Magical Journey Of Clay (Sawdust Firing)
Second session: students will build and fire a sawdust kiln, allowing them to engage more deeply with the transformational journey of clay, as well as becoming more familiar with its history, science and geology. (Safety note: this kiln smoulders for several hours needing minimum supervision.) Make a pot on the pottery wheel
